Calibre Question - NOT Oasis question. I mentioned the device because they need that info.

I just reset my Oasis due to a wifi weirdness that occurred last night. I no longer have wifi on it and I prefer that. when I copied my Calibre content back that I had backed up before doing a fr, there were no covers. what is the best way to get the covers back?

just delete it all and send over again? or can I just add the covers, and where do the Calibre covers actually live on the Oasis/PW?

The device is detected by calibre but Calibre doesn't show any books on the device. In FINDER I can see, the books are stored on the device.

I have made a complete RESET of my Kobo-Reader but still...nothing! Zero!

I am using Calibre for years and never was facing such issues.

I went online to my Amazon account, and created Collection titles for the bundles of ebooks that I have purchased and downloaded from StoryBundle.com. I have downloaded Calibri, as well as Calibri Companion on my Fire 8 HD.

I can't figure out how to copy the downloaded titles into Collections.

I created the Collection titles on the Amazon Website, but the titles don't show up on my Fire 8. I tried Sync, but still no Collection titles.

I did figure out how to copy my ebooks into the Books section of my KF8 using Calibri, but not how to organize them into a collection.

Currently, I keep two kinds of files on CC, my fic and my books. These categories are designated via a custom column with dropbox. Usually, in CC I can tap type on the grouping draw and it'll say (numbers are examples, but close estimate] Books [700] Fic [1000] which matches up with my library. Then, sometimes, I open it up and it'll say Books [30] Fic [5]

Um. Excuse?

I connect it as a wireless device, and it says the files are on the device, but scrolling through on CC doesn't show them. If I manually tell it to add them, it doesn't seem to be duplicating files (Like, it just did it, and it's adding ~500 which is about the number it wasn't showing), but when is it deleting them? Are they still taking up iPad memory space, or did something cause CC to delete files that were visible and useable between the last time I connected it and now? Again, whenever I connect as wireless device it says all of my book-labeled files are on the devices' main memory, but CC shows a fraction of that.

First, for some reason the Kindle doesn't sort decimal number correctly when displayed like this:

After an extensive search I concluded it's not possible because of the number/symbol order programmed in Kindle itself. However, the threads and articles I read where at least 2 years old, some older.
Has there been an update and/or is it fixable with the current version?

To clarify, I did get it to sort correctly with:

but then it shows all numbers with a .0 like so:

Apologies for sounding like a total OCD freak, but this is not quite what I want.


Second, nothing major but, I'd like to sort my series on the series name and number but with the title showing first, like this:


Way of Kings - Stormlight Archive [01]
Words of Radiance - Stormlight Archive [02]
Oathbringer - Stormlight Archive [03]

But when putting title first, it of course sorts on title alphabetically:

Oathbringer - Stormlight Archive [03]
Way of Kings - Stormlight Archive [01]
Words of Radiance - Stormlight Archive [02]

Is it possible to have title show first but still sort on series?


Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, apologies again for the nitpicking. If it's not solvable I guess I'd have to choose between ugly numbers or wrong sorting. :chinscratch:

Hi all

I am new to this forum (never knew it existed, sorry).
I am John from The Netherlands. I do know some English, and hopefully I can get a lot of info here. And hopefully can give info as well.

I owned a Kobo Glo HD, but I bought myself a new Kobo Libra H2O as a Xmas gift :-)

I had below mentioned problem before, but I always changed the way to upload and got it working. I always had a work around (uploading directly from Finder without Calibre).
But now i would like to get some more info, I hope.

I am getting this message when I upload a book to Kobo.
Can anyone explain to me what is is, and even more important, how can I solve the problem?

hello everybody.

I have noticed a strange behavior with my kobo for the last 3 or 4 last calibre updates/plugin (?) :
when I am transferring a book (from a collection) to my kobo, the series are not immediately updated (ie blank information on the kobo series field). I have to disconnect my kobo, reconnect it and then update the metadata from the koboUtilities menu (rev2.9.0). It has been previously working nicely for years .
I am using calibre 4.7 with Kobo clara HD running 4.18.13737

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong ?

I've had a problem with Calibre on my PC crashing when I plugged in my Samsung Note 9. Calibre would load up, detect the Note 9 main device and SD card, but when it started to get the list of books on the SD card, it would hang up on status "found object: Backups" and then crash every time.

I use to use the Readera app but switched to Moon+ Reader Pro as my ebook reader. I had deleted the Readera app from my phone. In troubleshooting the problem, I noted that there was still a residual Readera folder left on the phone and with a subfolder named backups with a few files in it. When I deleted the complete Readera folder, the Calibre crash stopped happening.

When starting Calibre I get the following error. Once I dismiss the notification Calibre seems to open fine but then Calibre closes unexpectedly when opening a book or searching an author. The little spinning circle in the lower right if the screen indicates a running job but none are shown when clicking that to open the running jobs window. Even though nothing appears, I've tried stopping all non-device jobs but does no help.

Hi there! I'm building an ebook library after ordering a kobo, and I was really excited to take advantage of all Calibre can do, except... it isn't working. At all.

I'm running Mac OS 10.15.2, Catalina

I downloaded the latest version, and it crashes upon opening.
I downloaded 3.48, and the exact same thing happened.
I followed the instructions on the Calibre FAQ:
- I do not have Voice Over enabled
- I checked my fonts for corruption
- I searched the crash log and found nothing like "Qt: internal: -108: Error ATSUMeasureTextImage..."

There is one step I wasn't sure how to do: System Preferences->System->Universal Access and turn off the setting for enabling access for assistive devices.

But I looked through the accessibility features and nothing seems to be on.

I really want to use this software. Any suggestions?

Hi there:

I'm exploring ways to sync my Calibre library with my iPhone. Ideally I'd be able to use Apple's Books app, simply because I like the way it works and looks. I'm open to other suggestions, however.

From my Googling I found BookFusion. Anyone use it? I also found a link about a plugin for Calibre, but the info seems out of date. A search of the plugin database from the Calibre app returns nothing for "iOS"

I'm aware I can drag and drop, but keeping track of what I've added and not added seems like a pain if there's a way to do it more automatically.

Any suggestions?

Hi there:

If you've read my other posts you know I'm trying to get an ebook library set up. I've been reading on my iPhone, but I do think I'm having some eye strain. Thinking about an eink based ereader.

I'm looking at Kobo's Libra H2O, and the Kindle Oasis. I'd like to avoid actual kindle books as much as possible.

Thing is, I'm really attracted to the Oasis' hardware. I'm a sucker for great design and devices that feel good in my hand. Also, the backlights seem superior.

Is it possible, with Calibre at hand, to have a large collection and avoid the Amazon ecosystem without it being a huge pain in the can? And still have good looking formatting on your books? Or should I get over it and just use the plastic and mediocrely lit Libra?

This morning I had the bad bad bad idea to update my Kobo version, which is now 4.19.14123. Bad idea. My collections are disappeared :( Besides, as Calibre kept giving me errors on version Database on Kobo I decided to update my calibre too. Now I cannot even update any data on my Kobo using calibre, there is no way to update the title of the book on the device using Calibre (with the previous version I was able to do it). I used to get my collections done using a personal column called @auth_coll which had author-series and obviously that's not working anymore :(
I feel close this up to get rid of the horrible ereader. Please someone can help me? :help: Thanks

Good morning,

I'm using Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.7, so right now it looks like I can not have any other Calibre version but 3.48 installed. The latest version of Calibre is 4.8, so is there any way (by installing other libraries or something else) I caninstall the latest Calibre version? I have not found any other actual post regarding this, and I am assuming 4.8 version may have new features than 3.48. Any help will be highly appreciate.
