Nook GL+ - Title not including series for just a couple books

$
0
0
I've got the original water proof Nook Glowlight plus...

I've long had calibre configured to send the series name and number as the leading portion of the title.

Never had an issue.

However, with a couple books I just transferred, the series name and number are not displaying on my Nook. Other books from the same series display just fine.

What's really interesting, the titles shown on the nook don't match anything on/in the book.

Shown Title - Black Dagger Legacy
Title in Calibre - Blood Fury
Series in Calibre - Black Dagger Brotherhood
Sub-Series in Calibre - Legacy
File name on Nook - Blood Fury - J.R. Ward.epub

Shown Title - A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood
Title in Calibre - The Thief
Series in Calibre - Black Dagger Brotherhood
Sub-Series in Calibre -
File name on Nook - Thief, The - J.R. Ward.epub

I've deleted and re-transfered the books a couple times..

I've deleted all the books from the nook; along with the calibre metadata files on the nook.

I've used the modify ePub plug-in to replace the metadata jacket of the problem epubs.

None of which as affected what the nook is displaying...

Any thought as to what's wrong and how to fix it?

Note: running Calibre 3.39.1...going to update to the latest...no difference with 3.42.0

Thank you!

Books not shown in Kindle App

Hello everyone!
I have tried to look for existing threads about this issue, but I haven't found any. I also hope this is the right place to ask.
I have always used Calibre to send downloaded books on the Kindle Paperwhite without any major issue. On my Kindle I also have books borrowed with the Prime Reading program.
Today, I downloaded the Kindle app for Android, and I realized that only 1/3 (if not less) of the books I have on the device is shown in the app. I can obviously see all the books downloaded with Prime reading, but also some of the ones that I manually added with Calibre. I can see that some of these are labelled as books, others as documents.
I was wondering why I can only see certain books on the app, is it because of the DRMs? Thank you!

Using Calibre 3.42 with Kobo Aura One 4.14.12777, I get the popup "Data Base Not Supported" when loading books. The books appear to load fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I upgraded Calibre to the latest version (3.43) and I no longer have the option to convert ebooks to kepub. My main readers are Kobo, so this is not a good development. Has anyone else encountered this with the latest version?

Can't access Calibre remotely

My server has been working fine until today and now I can't access it remotely. Local access works fine.

After selecting the library I get: Failed to communicate with "/interface-data/books-init?
library_idCalibre&sort=timestamp.desc& 1559441244312" timed out after 60 seconds.

I'm running the current version of Calibre on Windows 10 pro and have tried turning off Windows defender and the Windows firewall and still get the same error.

Any suggestions what to try next?

Thanks

Onyx Note Pro not recognized by Calibre 3.44

Just got my new Onyx Note Pro and was eager to try it. I updated my Calibre to the latest level, 3.44 . I plug the Note Pro, and nothing happens. It is not recognized. Calibre has no problem recognizing my Paperwhite.

What's happening? Is it because the Note Pro is too recent?

Difference between "Sending books to devices" and "Sharing over the net"

I have a couple recent fetched weekly news in Calibre library, of the same publisher.

1. When sending via email to Kindle, the weekly news will list as separate issues on Kindle, with title and pubdate in place;

2. When download the same issues at local x.x.x.x:8080, the weekly news will merged under same title on Kindle;

Would you help explain the differences here, and how to get the same results as 2, i.e. weekly news merged under same title like a folder, when sending books via email?

Calibre not recognizing Kindle Fire HD 7 (2019 generation)

I got a new Kindle recently - Fire HD 7 (2019 generation). I also installed Calibre on a new computer. I was able to connect my old Kindle (from 2012) just fine, so I figured getting the new one hooked up would be a breeze. Not so. I went through all the steps in the "device not detected" thread. Nothing helped there - my computer recognizes the Kindle, the plugin is installed, I'm not using Linux. So I ran the device debug, and here is the output:

Losing most of toolbar plugins when attaching Nook Tablet

$

When I plug in my Nook Tablet to move books from Calibre, I am losing alot of my toolbar plugin options like duplicate finder and edit book. They just dont show up as they did previously. This seems to have started about 2 weeks ago and I havent done anything different or made any changes. Once I unattach my Nook everything reappears as normal. I know there are some plugins that dont show in the bar when you are using your reader but these were always there. Using Calibre version 3.46 currently. Hope this makes sense as I am just computer savy enough to be dangerous. :) Thank you for any suggestions.

[KOBO] books on the device that are not recognised by calibre

$

I have a brand new Forma since Thursday, in exchange for the one I bought October last which had battery problems, and I've been suffering through loading some 4300 books (epubs converted to kepubs on the go).

There was the usual rigmarole of having to split the books in small parcels, and after a few parcels Calibre closes down, with no way to see what went wrong since when I reopen it, it is in the state it was in when closed down properly.

Now that I have finished transferring, some 100 books are on the device, but are not recognized by Calibre. I can read them, but the metadata are not updated in the details of the book, though they are in the proper collections. And I can't synchronise the reading positions (I have 3 devices active).

I have tried several times cancelling those books from the device and loading them again, with the same results.

I verified the database, which is ok, and my PC and devices are on the latest F/W for everything.

Hi

I've just bought a new Kindle Paperwhite (2019 edition). I wanted to put books on it, but Calibre does not recognize the device.

HI
I recently found I have lost lots of books as when it says delete from device, it does not mean delete from the Kindle device, it actually means delete the book from the database!
So, how can i delete a book from the device -that is, the Kindle- without deleting it from the main database in Calibre?
