I am a newbie to Calibre.
I downloaded epub file from Standard Books. Standard Books are supposed to be DRM-free. I used calibre to convert the epub file into an azw3 file, and then used calibre's "Send to Device" menu to load the azw3 file onto my kindle paperwhite via USB.
When I access the kindle, after disconnecting from calibre, I can see the cover of the book on my kindle (like all of the other titles I have on the kindle), but when I try to read the book I get the following error message:

"unable to open item - the selected item could not be opened. If you purchased it from Amazon please delete and download it again from the cloud"
Any idea why this is happening?
