Recently I updated to version 5.42 from a previous version of Calibre - 5.32 I think. Once it installed, by Kindle was no longer recognized by Calibre so I could download books to it. I had recently update software on the Kindle so I thought it was something Google did. I removed and reloaded Calibre several times thinking that was it. No. I used various cords. No. Now, I went back to Calibre version 5.32 and sure enough, my device is recognized and I can once again use Calibre to download books. Hope this helps someone at Calibre figure out what is going on.
