Unfortunately I had Calibre on autoupdate, and my prior version got wiped out.
Worse than not having DDRM work, no newly purchased books, since Calibre 5.01, load at all on my Kindle. A week or two ago everything worked beautifully. Here is the message I get with any new book transfer to my keyboard Kindle:
This item cannot be opened because it is licensed to a different user.
Delete the item and download it again... or purchase a copy from the Kindle store.
Checking with Amazon Kindle shows my Kindle for PC is properly licensed. Nor do I believe that my Kindle has lost it's registration - but I don't know how to check that.
Kindle for PC (v 1. has no problems viewing the books at all and works fine just like before.
I almost forgot to mention that on occasion it appears that the transfer from Calibre to the Kindle does not even show up.
I also tried the advice of installing Calibre v 4.23 Portable which worked fine, until I attempted to install appropriate DDRM, not only does the install fail, but Calibre no longer even opens even though prior to DDRM it opened and displayed all of the books in my Calibre Library. If I did not wish to transfer any new books from Calibre to Kindle, or tried to read them with Calibre, I would not be aware of any issues. Of course the DRM prevents me from putting any of the cookbooks which has lots of photos onto my iPad using EPub conversion. Yes I know there are other formats and ways to load books onto the iPad.
So, I'm asking:
1) If anyone else has the same Kindle issues as I described? Any solutions ?
2) I would be happy to uninstall Calibre v 5.01, and simply replace it with v 4.23 and install DDRM. However I cannot find a specific Calibre uninstall file, so I would have to see if Windows shows one. Normally I use Revo Uninstaller but I'm concerned I might remove some of my additional organizational Genre Labeling settings (that would be disastrous and take weeks to recreate).
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
